Programme Note

The Brandenburg Choral Festival of London welcomes back the Choir of St Mary’s Wimbledon for this performance of Brahms’s dramatic German Requiem, heard tonight in Iain Farrington’s skilful arrangement of the accompaniment for chamber ensemble, which features Andrew Lenon on the piano alongside musicians of the Brandenburg Sinfonia. Also in the programme, Finzi’s substantial anthem Lo, the full final sacrifice, with its stunning 8-part Amen conclusion.
