Programme Note

The Brandenburg Choral Festival of London welcomes Amici Della Voce, a mixed-voice a cappella octet based in Oxford. For its festival debut the choir presents this programme of sacred vocal music entitled “Renaissance to Romantic – a tale of two Masses” and comprising beautiful choral pieces written for 4 or 8 voices and spanning five centuries. The concert opens with Byrd’s Mass for Four Voices, and follows it with motets by Viadana, Victoria and Lotti. After the interval, Rheinberger’s Missa in honorem Sanctissimae Trinitatis, other Romantic works including Bruckner’s serene Locus Iste, and contemporary composer Julian Wachner’s Aaronic Benediction.
