Programme Note

The versatile soprano is joined by the composer/conductor/pianist for a programme of early 20th-century Lieder, including some unfamiliar items. The Austrian Johanna Müller-Hermann (1878-1941) was a pupil of Zemlinsky and herself much admired in her lifetime: her settings of her own poems (the first two of Op. 2) and those of the remarkable Ricarda Huch (the remaining items) date from 1907 and 1929, respectively.
