Programme Note

Together with his pianist partner, the baritone from the Ladin area of the South Tyrol in Italy has earned considerable praise from critics whether performing live or on disc. BBC Music Magazine was inspired by their recording of Die schöne Müllerin to suggest that ‘overall, these two musicians are so confident and polished, it’s hard to see why the much-adored girl isn’t besotted with this robust, healthy, velvet-voiced lover with his equally smooth and perceptive pianistic sidekick.’ Here they tackle Brahms’s only song cycle.

Andre Schuen and Daniel Heide
