More recently she has become Director of ‘Emma Johnson and Friends’, a versatile wind and string group, which tonight includes the young Scottish horn player, Alec Frank-Gemmill, ‘a phenomenon with a tone of golden purity, wraparound warmth and ecstatic afterglow’ [Financial Times]. Together with our old friends, the Carducci String Quartet (plus Philip Gibbon, bassoon and Chris West, double bass in the Octet), they round off our season with three chamber music masterpieces.
