Programme Note

A vivid journey through song exploring expressions of war in music with National Opera Studio young artist Edmund Danon.

The programme includes George Butterworth’s lilting setting of A E Houseman’s poem, The Lads in their Hundreds, Schumann’s Die Beiden Grenadier, a dramatic account of the return of soldiers from war, and an emotive story of a young man’s coming of age in Youth and Love from Vaughan Williams’s Songs of Travel.
