Programme Note

This concert is one of four to celebrate the London Bach Society's 70th Anniversary and profiles Bach's duties outside the church environment, but which were all part of his job, especially at Leipzig.

Bach's cantata BWV 206 is rarely performed and was composed to celebrate the Birthday of the Elector of Saxony/King of Poland. It includes some stellar arias and performed alongside the 3rd Brandenburg Concert we shall present Bach at his sparkling and delightful best.

Rodolfo Richter, director and solo violin
