Programme Note

This recital takes place on the anniversary of Mendelssohn's death on 4 November 1847 and forms part of the Festival's celebration of Victoria and Albert's 200th. Mendelssohn was not only a leading light in the 19th century Bach revival in Germany, giving countless organ recitals that included Bach compositions in the process, but he was also a close friend of the Queen and Prince Consort.  Ben's programme reflects all these in his substantial programme of music.
