Programme Note

Pure tango!
is the air, the life, the love.... Tango is everything.
(Carlos Matheos)

Tango means passion, love and energy. The Hanover Piano Trio dedicates itself to classical tango with these forms of expression.
Carlos Gardel was the "father of the Argentine tango" as early as the end of the 19th century. His influence extends to the tangos of contemporary tango artist Peter Ludwig (*1951) and also influenced the grand master of "Tango Nuevo" Astor Piazzolla. His "Las Cuatro Estaciones Porteñas" tell of the pulse of the big city, of the time of farewell, of scorching heat and furious excitement. The Argentinian composer Alberto Ginastera gave the folk music of his homeland a voice in art music. In his music, he also sets the folklore of his homeland to music.
