Programme Note

A performance exploring the brutality and futility of war, and the peace and solace to be found in the natural world. Featuring the exciting teenage voices of the National Youth Choir with cellist Joely Koos, this promises to be a moving and uplifting concert experience.

Be transported by a beautiful programme of music for choir and cello, including Sir Richard Rodney Bennett’s A Farewell to Arms and Caroline Shaw's And the Swallow. The concert is bookended by two contemplative works from the Russian Orthodox tradition - Rachmaninoff’s Borogoditse Dyevo and John Tavener’s Syvati.
