Programme Note

There is nothing quite like settling in for a good film after a busy week, waiting to be transported to a different world. Music has long served to elevate the moving image to greater emotional heights and many a musical work has been made famous by its appearance in film. Our grand finale of the Summer Festival will be celebrating this powerful relationship and promises to be a memorable night of contrasts, memories and magic. Featuring snippets of film accompanied by live soundtracks, the programme will include Bernstein: Symphonic Dances from West Side Story; Herrmann: Psycho Suite; Walton: Henry V; Mahler: Adagietto from Symphony No 5; and Strauss: The Blue Danube.

Finale: Friday Night is Movie Night (002)
