Musicke in the Ayre

Programme Note

RELUCTANTLY CANCELLED

Early song specialists Musicke in the Ayre continue their season of concerts celebrating the life and work of Thomas Campion (died March 1620) with a programme of solo songs and duets to the lute; all texts are by Campion, some of the settings by Robert Jones (plus one by Nicholas Lanier). The selection shows off the wide range of sentiments covered by Campion's texts: from spiritual to saucy, witty to wistful.
