Shakespearathon

Part of the Brandenburg Choral Festival of London Autumn Series 2015

Add to my Calendar 15-10-2016 19:30 15-10-2016 21:30 36 Shakespearathon 2016 is the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death, and the Brandenburg Choral Festival has chosen to honour him with this day of music inspired by the Bard, culminating in a performance featuring the five participating choirs. Each choir will host a public workshop exploring their choice of repertoire (starting at 12 noon, open to the public for £1 per session), starting with the fabulous Addison Chamber Choir led by David Wordsworth, who will curate the day. At 7.30pm all five choirs will perform their chosen selection of works, with the programme set to include Ralph Vaughan Williams’ beautiful ‘Serenade to Music’ and Cole Porter’s humorous ‘Brush up your Shakespeare’.   Workshop schedule 12 noon: Addison Chamber Choir Repertoire to include: 'The Food of Love, book I' by Gary Carpenter; 'That time of Year' by Zillah Myers (world premiere) 1pm: Loughborough University Choir Repertoire to include: 'Who is Sylvia' settings by Edward German and George Shearing; 'Double Trouble' by John Williams 2pm: Cantique Repertoire to include: 'Shakespeare on Music' by Chris Gardner (world premiere); music from Shakespeare's time by Byrd, Gibbons and Wilbye 3pm: Barnes Music Festival Chorus Repertoire to include: 'Full Fathom Five' by Charles Wood; 'Light Thickens' by Richard Sisson 4pm: Junior Academy Upper Voices Repertoire to include: 'The Food of Love, book II' by Gary Carpenter St Sepulchre-without-Newgate Church, London DD/MM/YYYY
