Mozart’s Don Giovanni Overture full of comedy, melodrama and supernatural elements based on the legend of Don Juan; Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto championed by Yehudi Menuhin; Fauré’s enchanting Nocturne from Shylock transporting listeners to a moonlit Venetian night and finally Symphony No.1 by Emilie Mayer which was written only two years later than the Mendelssohn.
