They open our first season in the new venue with a programme typical of the wide breadth of LCMS concerts, presenting virtually a history of the quartet medium. Classic masterworks by Haydn and Beethoven are combined with a quartet by celebrated 20th-century Polish composer Grażyna Bacewicz, as well as beautiful music for string consort, the precursor to the quartet, by Matthew Locke from the 1600s.
