The second half opens with Britten's Matineés musicales, inspired by the music of Rossini, Delius' The Walk to "The Paradise Garden" from 'A Village Romeo and Juliet', the Grand March from Verdi's Aïda, and ending with seasonal music by Johann Strauss the Elder and by Johann Strauss the Younger, conducted by James Ross.
