Programme Note

Lunchtime concert of love songs in string quartets.

The brilliant Brother Tree Sound return to Summer Music in City Churches to perform Mendelssohn's passionate and richly romantic String Quartet No.2. Just 18, the composer gave it the motif: "Is it true that you wait for me in the arbour by the vineyard wall?"

This lovely lunchtime programme also includes a selection of Dvořák's love-songs, Cypresses, arranged by the composer for string quartet.

Forms part of ten days of concerts of beautiful music, around themes of love, romance and Shakespeare performed in one of the historic churches within London's Square Mile.
