Musicke in the Ayre

Programme Note

On 1st March 1620, Dr Thomas Campion - celebrated poet, prolific composer of lute songs, esteemed physician - died and was buried at St Dunstan-in-the-West. Musicke in the Ayre mark this anniversary with a delightful programme of songs by him, including some by others using his poems. This small selection from his five publications illustrate the range of his songs: witty to wistful, saucy to spiritual, mirthful to mournful, but always entertaining.

Din, Timea and Esha at St Alfege
