Programme Note

We return to the historic setting of St. Bartholomew-the-Great for the first of two concerts that include cantatas composed in as part of Bach's second and third Leipzig cycles 1725.  These are glittering and very moving cycles framing one of the composers much-loved violin concertos. BWV 42 is the only one in the seond cycle of cantatas to begin with an extended Sinfonia. Magic!

Rodolfo Richter director & solo violin
