Programme Note

Join us for this fascinating concert of music by the famous composer Gustav Mahler and his less well-known wife, Alma.

Gustav Mahler: Symphony No. 1

Mahler's Symphony No. 1 is a staple of the orchestral repertoire for good reason. With something for everyone it is one not to be missed.

Alma Mahler: Seven Songs for Voice and Orchestra

Alma stopped composing during her marriage to Gustav because he felt there should only be one composer in the marriage, and little of her work survives. The 'Seven Songs for Voice and Orchestra' have been orchestrated by Colin and David Matthews.

Join us for music by two great composer.

Conducted by Monica Buckland, led by Dawn Allen. Soloist: Mojca Vederhjak.

Tickets: £10, concessions £8, students/children £4. Available by emailing newtyneorch@hotmail.com or on the door.
