Programme Note

Din and Carmel mark the 400th anniversary of the death of Thomas Campion - celebrated poet, prolific composer, esteemed physician - with a programme of lute songs by him, plus a few by colleagues such as Dowland, Johnson and Coperario. An orphan by age 13, he became a gentleman amateur who was an important figure in the English lute song movement, wtih connections to the Jacobean court. This delightful programme includes songs that cover many aspects of life: love and loss, marriage and mourning, faith and frolicking.
