Programme Note

The Festival would not feel complete without its customary and much-loved recital on the Steinway piano in Christ Church. This year, Dmitrii celebrates the 150th Anniversary of the birth of the French Impressionist composer Maurice Ravel, by performing Miroirs, whose 5 movements are dedicated to 5 different friends of the composer. The concert starts with a short work by Gabriel Fauré, who was one of Ravel’s teachers.

After the interval, Dmitrii has chosen a rarely-played work by the Romantic composer Johannes Brahms, which is real tour-de-force for the piano.

Dmitrii Kalashnikov – Piano
