Programme Note

A Sea Symphony, by Ralph Vaughan Williams is a musical voyage for choir, soloists and orchestra, inspired by the poetry of Walt Whitman. Experience the  vastness of the ocean and the spirit of exploration in  Vaughan Williams' masterpiece.

The theme of the sea is continued in Stanford's Songs of the Fleet, a patriotic song cycle from the early 20th century, reflecting Britain's strong naval tradition.
